3D Mesh – Three-dimensional material for modern facades

Send enquiry
The unique 3D mesh material represents the peak of development in aluminium facade systems. It comes in various shapes and sizes, ranging from very open structures that allow for high visual transparency, to relatively closed solutions designed to achieve maximum shading functionality and ensure privacy.
This innovative architectural element allows for exceptional design flexibility. Architects and designers often use two mesh materials in combination as a double layer. This approach creates an even more impressive visual effect and further enhances the building's performance in terms of energy efficiency and light penetration control.

What is a 3D Mesh?

3D mesh expanded metal stands out in the market thanks to its extra dimension. Unlike standard expanded metal, 3D mesh possesses a pronounced “depth” to the sheet. This three-dimensional character not only contributes to its aesthetic appeal but also significantly enhances the material's structural properties.

The production process of expanded metal is exceptionally environmentally friendly as it is based on a technique of cutting and stretching aluminium sheet without creating waste. The result is a continuous, homogeneous structure that offers an outstanding strength-to-weight ratio, making it an ideal choice for modern architectural projects.

Three Key Advantages over Standard Sheet Metal

When choosing materials for facade systems, 3D mesh offers three key advantages that set it apart from conventional solutions:

1. Exceptional rigidity and stability

Thanks to its three-dimensional structure, 3D mesh is considerably stiffer compared to “flat,” standard mesh. This increased rigidity allows for the use of larger panels without the need for dense sub-structures, which reduces the overall weight of the facade and simplifies installation.

2. Uniform visual transparency

With a standard mesh, the level of transparency changes drastically depending on the viewing angle. From a certain angle, the facade can appear completely closed, while from another, the interior of the building is clearly visible. With a 3D mesh, the level of visual transparency remains almost the same from all directions. This feature allows architects precise control over the building's appearance and privacy levels, regardless of the observer's position.

3. Superior aesthetic appearance

3D mesh types possess a special, premium look that gives every facade a unique and contemporary character. The three-dimensional structure creates a dynamic play of light and shadow on the building's surface, changing its appearance throughout the day depending on the sun's position.

The main features of the system

Our 3D mesh system has been developed with a focus on durability, aesthetics, and ease of installation. The following table shows the key characteristics of this material:
Feature
Description
Three-dimensional structure
Stunning aluminium mesh available in various mesh sizes and aperture shapes.
Invisible fastenings
Specially designed aluminium frame that perfectly matches the 3D mesh, ensuring clean lines without visible screws or joins.
Spectacular choice of colours
A wide range of anodising options that highlight metallic sheen and texture.
Weather resistance
All materials are completely resistant to corrosion, UV radiation and extreme weather conditions.
Low maintenance
Surface treatment ensures long-lasting cleanliness with minimal requirements for regular maintenance.

Materials and finishes

The finishing is key to the longevity and final appearance of the facade. 3D aluminium mesh offers two main finishing options, each bringing specific advantages.

The material can be powder-coated in any colour according to the RAL chart, offering unlimited customisation possibilities to the project's visual identity. However, the unique three-dimensional characteristics of the 3D mesh truly come alive when the material is anodised.

Anodising

Anodising or eloxal is an advanced electrolytic process that turns the top layer of aluminium into a tough, protective surface. This process doesn't apply a coat of paint to the surface, but rather creates an integrated oxide layer that is extremely resistant to all weather conditions. The colour is “locked” beneath the surface, meaning it cannot fade, peel, or crack.

A range of colours and gloss levels are available for anodising. Metallic shades are particularly popular as they highlight the material's architectural value, including a spectrum from natural silver, through bronze tones, all the way to copper and gold colours.

3D Mesh Types

We offer a wide range of mesh types to meet the specific requirements of each project. Each mesh type can be combined with different anodising colours.

Applications in Architecture

3D mesh is an extremely versatile material that finds application in various segments of modern architecture.
As Facade cladding, creates a striking visual identity for the building while protecting the underlying structure. It is particularly effective as sun protection system (brise-soleils), which reduces solar gain and lessens the need for air conditioning, thereby directly contributing to the building's energy efficiency.

In urban environments, it is often used for public and private garages, as it ensures the necessary natural ventilation while simultaneously hiding parked vehicles from view. It is also an excellent solution for creating privacy zone, partition walls on balconies or hiding technical equipment on building roofs.

Why Choose a 3D Mesh?

Choosing a 3D mesh represents a long-term profitable investment in the quality and aesthetics of your building. The combination of environmentally friendly production, exceptional durability of aluminium, and advanced anodising technology results in a facade solution that requires minimal maintenance, while retaining its original appearance for decades.

Whether you are designing a modern office building, a luxury residential property or public infrastructure, a 3D mesh provides the architectural freedom needed to realise the most demanding visions.
