Composite wood - The warmth of nature, the power of technology

Send enquiry
We all love the classic look of wood in architecture, but its constant maintenance, susceptibility to rot, and sensitivity to the elements often present a challenge. The solution is Wood-Plastic Composite (WPC) – an innovative engineered material that is a game-changer in modern construction.

Composite wood is created by precisely mixing recycled wood fibres with high-quality polymers (such as HDPE) with the addition of UV stabilisers and pigments. The result is a material that visually and to the touch perfectly imitates natural wood, while the plastic component encapsulates the wood fibres, creating an impenetrable shield against moisture, insects, and decay.

At Avantall, we offer the latest generation of co-extruded (capped) WPC facade panels in collaboration with Tecnodeck®. These panels have an additional protective outer layer (like armour) that gives them unparalleled resistance to stains, fading, and scratches, making them an ideal solution for residential, commercial, and public buildings.

Tecnodeck® — Our partner for composite wood

Since 2004, Tecnodeck® has been a pioneer in the world of composite wood in Europe., combining the warmth and elegance of natural wood with the latest technologies. As a brand that has defined industry standards, Tecnodeck® today presents its fourth generation of composite decking. — material that is constantly evolving in step with market needs and the demands of the circular economy.

Tecnodeck® combines the properties of wood and thermoplastic resins in a way that brings out the best of both materials: the unique feel of wood and the incomparable durability of thermoplastic. The result is a high-tech product that offers architects and designers the aesthetic freedom of natural material, with technical performance that natural wood can never achieve.

Why is Tecnodeck® different from other WPC materials?

Types of materials

Why choose composite wood over natural wood?

1. Absolutely maintenance-free
Forget sanding, varnishing, oiling, and expensive repairs every two to three years. WPC facades do not require any protective coatings. Routine pressure washing is all that's needed to keep your facade looking like new for decades. In the long run, this represents a huge saving in time and money.

2. All-weather resistance
Unlike natural wood which swells, cracks and warps due to changes in humidity and temperature, WPC panels are characterised by exceptional dimensional stability. Tecnodeck® has been tested for use in a temperature range down to -40 °C, and the maximum moisture absorption is just 0.31 TP3T (measured by 24-hour immersion), which guarantees dimensional stability in all climatic conditions. They are resistant to extreme sun, heavy rain, snow and freeze–thaw cycles.

3. Protection against moisture, rot, and insects
Thanks to its polymer coating, composite wood is completely resistant to water absorption. This means there is no risk of rot, mould, or mildew.

Tecnodeck® is an antibacterial material that eliminates most bacteria and fungi, and is resistant to both sea and pool water – making it an ideal choice for coastal projects and pool facilities. The material is completely unattractive to termites and other wood-destroying insects.

4. Superior thermal and sound insulation
When installed as a ventilated facade system, WPC panels create an air pocket that blocks heat in the summer and reduces energy loss in the winter. Additionally, the high density of the composite material provides excellent sound insulation, reducing environmental noise and increasing comfort within the building.

5. Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility
Our composite wood is an eco-friendly product. Tecnodeck® is made from wood processing residues, which means that not a single tree needs to be felled for its production. By combining carefully selected wood particles with thermoplastic resins that contain no PVC or other environmentally hazardous materials, Tecnodeck® represents a responsible alternative that conserves tropical rainforests and reduces environmental impact. The material is fully recyclable at the end of its life.

Design and aesthetics

The facade is the face of your building, and composite wood gives you the freedom to shape that face exactly as you envision, with the assurance that that beauty will last.

  • Authentic look: Advanced 3D embossing technology creates deep, realistic grain textures that are visually and tactilely almost indistinguishable from real wood. With the touch and look of natural wood, Tecnodeck® looks the same for years.
  • A wealth of colours: We offer a wide range of colours – from classic teak, wenge and ash, to oak and mahogany, to modern shades such as light grey, volcano black and off-white. Maximum UV ray absorption ensures colour fastness and material longevity, without the need for refreshing.
  • Modern profiles: From flat, elegant panels to ribbed profiles that create a dynamic play of light and shadow, ideal for contemporary architecture.

Composite wood is not just an alternative to natural wood – it is its technical evolution. With Avantall and Tecnodeck®, you get the perfect balance between uncompromising aesthetics, ecological responsibility, and durability that doesn't demand your time. — and all this supported by certificates and decades of proven quality on European projects and projects worldwide.
